From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mishap pilot was in the process of touching down when he noticed another aircraft exit the grassy area to the right of the paved runway and enter the active runway in front of him. The other aircraft, an Aeronca champ, turned to the right and taxied away from the mishap aircraft and exited approximately midfield. The mishap aircraft had touched down and did not have sufficient speed or distance from the other aircraft to initiate a go-around. The mishap pilot applied aggressive braking resulting in both main landing gear tires blowing out and subsequent damage to both main landing gear wheel and brake assemblies.
