From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On July 8, 2006, at approximately 1500 local time, while attempting to land on runway 03 at Orange County Airport, the pilot hard landed the aircraft. The aircraft sustained the following damage: the wooden propeller shattered, causing a sudden stoppage of the engine. The landing gear sustained cracks in at least three areas including the attachment point to the fuselage. The left brake assembly was ground down where it impacted the runway. In a telephone call to the NTSB, it was decided the damage did not constitute an accident, so therefore, this situation has been classified an incident.
