From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft departed from alexandria bay new york (89N) with the pilot (PIC) privacy data omitted and two passsengers for a sight seeing flight. After approximately 20 minutes into the flight, at 2800 MSL, the pilot privacy data omitted observed the engine cylinder head temperature starting to rise, shortly thereafter the engine stopped running. PIC made several attempts to restart the engine but was unsuccessful. PIC then became concerned with loss of altitude and began to focus on a place to land. PIC maneuvered the aircraft from the south east of Clayton, NY towards an open field to the north. As the PIC attempted to land the right wing and landing gear struck a one foot high embankment and livestock electrical wire adjacent of the open field.
