From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) PIC stated that upon completion of his banner tow assignment he was returning to blm. In the vicinity of the garden state parkway the engine of his aircraft began to run rough and his rpm's decreased from 2500 to approximately 1500. He could not maintain altitude and decided to release his banner alongside the parkway. The banner fell to the side of the parkway without incident. The PIC then proceeded to blm with reduced power and made a normal landing without further problems. At blm it was found that one cylinder had no compression. The cylinder will be removed and a maintenance report will be sent to the "pmi."
