What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) The pilot stated to the inspector that he was departing a small pond near the mouth of the theodore river south of Tyonek for the short flight back to lake hood. The weather was clear and there was a light wind (approximately 8-9 knots) out of the south. Takeoff from the pond was restricted to either east or west due to the shape of the pond and the pilot elected to takeoff to the west. Just after takeoff the pilot was attempting to correct for the left crosswind with rudder and the left wing stalled. The airplane struck the water and shoreline sustaining substantial damage to both wings. Neither the pilot nor passenger were injured.
