From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On August 15, 2006 at 0957L, N1121P, a 1929 alexander eaglerock, model A-2, landed on runway 26 at ftg. The left main landing gear collapsed during roll out. The commercial rated pilot and one passenger received no injuries. Damage to the aircraft was minor. The pilot stated he and the passenger (pilot rated/cfi) departed apa for insurance company. Upon touch down at ftg, a gusty crosswind was encountered and the pilot overcorrected, causing the left gear to collapse during the roll out. (-23 amendment) amended report for INM03060057. 44709 reexam has been changed to a m or d selection. On November 28, 2006 two FAA inspectors met with a certified mechanic and it was determined to be a mechanical issue with the tail wheel assembly that was the cause of the incident. Mechanic instructed to file the m or d report.
