From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) From the pilot's statement, he stated the following information about his second landing attempt of his first solo flight. He thought he was too high and too fast and decided to make a go around and gave it full throttle and attempted to bank to the left. He heard the instructor on a hand held radio tell him to adjust the flaps, they were at 40 degrees. In reducing the flaps he realized he was too low to clear the trees. From the wreckage sit it appeared he was on a close-in downwind when he hit the trees.
