From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) This is a preliminary report. When the remainder of the relevant facts become known, an amended report will be filed. (-23 amendment) the pilot obtained a preflight briefing from duats. It was an abbreviated briefing and did not include the NOTAM for the airport which warned about airport construction and the fact that only the first 2,000 feet of runway 3 were available for takeoff and landing operations. Upon entry into the traffic pattern at Canyonlands airport in Moab, Utah the pilot did not conduct any kind of runway check to determine its suitability for landing. The pilot landed on runway 3 and the nose gear became entangled in a berm of dirt spread across the runway from side to side. That impact caused substantial damage to the aircraft's airframe. This is a final report. privacy data omitted
