From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) November 4, 2006, N2831D piloted by privacy data omitted departed peachstate airport (GA2) at approximately 1330. At lift-off and gear retraction, the right main gear wheel departed the aircraft. Pilot was advised on the UNICOM of the situation. Elected to land at home base airport, Cedar Ridge Airport (GA62). Emergency vehicles were alerted and standing by. Landed on runway 18, holding the right main off the runway as long as possible. As the airplane slowed, the right gear axle and brake contacted the runway continuing straight down the runway drifting to the right. As the aircraft left the pavement to the right side of the runway the gear "dug" into the grass causing the airplane to turn and pivot up on the nose, striking the prop. The airplane came to rest on the nose, the pilot exited without incident, or injury.
