From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) N7029B, an amateur build kit aircraft, while landing at Yerington, NV (O43) in strong winds, crashed on the ramp. Pilot stated he intended to fly over to a tie down on the ramp, set the aircraft down and then secure it to a tie-down. He added that the stall speed of this aircraft was 28 knots. He said that as he was flying toward the tie down a gust caused the aircraft to touchdown, resulting in the left main tire deflating. Ramp markings indicate the aircraft then twisted approximately 90 degrees to the left into a right crosswind. This bent the nose gear such that the propeller struck the ramp surface. The left wing tip also contacted the surface before coming to a stop. Substantial damage to the fire wall occurred as well as damage to the nose gear and destruction of the propeller. The single occupant was uninjured.

As the FAA filed it
