From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On December 04, 2006, at about 1730 local time, in a statement from the pilot of N8927K, a Stinson-108-1 was landing at Salinas airport (sns). While on approach there was a crosswind from the right that had to be corrected for. The pilot started to flare and could not longer see the runway lights over the nose. At this time he added power to slow the descent. When the ground came into sight, he realized he had drifted right and had no time to correct before hitting the runway sign.
