From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) privacy data omitted on January 02, 2007, at 1140 central time, a twin engine fairchild SW-3 airplane, venezuelan registration YV-2045 was substantially damaged following loss of control while landing at Richard l. Jones jr airport. The pilot reported that during the landing roll and upon nose wheel touchdown, the steering mechanism failed and resulted in an uncommanded turn to the left. The aircraft came to an abrupt stop after the nose gear assembly dug into the soft ground and collapsed. This caused structural damage to lower portion of the nose section and damage to the support structure of the nose landing gear assy.
