From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Upon landing the right landing gear torque link separated due to the hardware build up not being assembled correctly utilizing a large area washer before the nut, causing the landing gear to rotate 90 degrees or more allowing the side load on the gear to cause the gear to extend aft of the wing. The right wing, wing tip, flap and aileron were damaged. This is a maintenance issue. The maintenance manual does not address the hardware build up on the torque link assembly. However Cessna service information letter number ME83-37 dated 11/23/1983 does specify the necessary hardware build up especially the large diameter washers used. Standard maintenance practices were not used and Cessna (sil #ME83-37) is not incorporated in the maintenance manual.
