From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On April 18, 2007, at approximately 15:15 hours, the pilot departed wiley post airport (pwa) for a destination of Shawnee municipal airport (snl). At approximately 4.5 miles from snl, the engine stopped running. The pilot then performed an emergency landing on a rough field. On landing, the left wing tip contacted a cedar bush resulting in the shearing of the wingtip. The aircraft then traveled for approximately 5 feet when the left wing struck a tree. The impact with the tree caused considerable damage to the left wing. The aircraft then traveled forward approximately 25 feet while rotating 90 degrees to the left. The aircraft's right wing then struck a large cedar bush causing considerable damage to the right wing. The aircraft came to rest against the second cedar bush. The pilot was not injured; there were no passengers onboard the aircraft.
