From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot had an opportunity to photograph his two daughters in-flight in a classic aircraft. The pilot departed in N360DD and his daughters departed in the classic aircraft. Several pictures were taken and the pilot landed 4SD without incident. Prior to shutdown, another photo opportunity occurred and the pilot again departed 4SD. Shortly after departure the engine starved for fuel and the pilot initiated an emergency landing at 4SD. The aircraft contacted the ground approximately 200 yards short and left of runway 14. Upon landing, the left aileron spade entangled in the sage brush causing the aileron to separate from the aft spar of the left wing, significantly damaging that structure.
