What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) The aircraft was south of the Fairfield, Idaho airport, and crashed while approaching to land on runway 07. The pilot stated that he was descending from 6000 ft MSL and during the turn to right base, he encountered a wind shear. He lost control of the aircraft and struck the ground with the left wing-tip first and skidded across the ground (alfalfa field) for about 150 yards. The uncontrolled skid caused damage to the left wing and sheared the left main landing gear for the fuselage. The aircraft came to a stop causing substantial damage to the engine cowling, the airframe and empennage.
