From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While on approach to boi runway 10R on a 3 mile final, nw flt. 579, an Airbus 320 was struck by a ground based green laser. The laser entered the cockpit on the first officer's side causing momentary disorientation and impaired vision. The laser illuminated the overhead and glareshield, but the center windscreen post blocked the laser from direct contact with the captain. Once the first officer was able to regain focus, he reported the incident to ATC. The suspects responsible for the incident were identified by law enforcement. privacy data omitted
