From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On June 11, 2007, at 1030 eastern standard time, an Enstrom 280 fx helicopter, N93GP, was substantially damaged when it impacted terrain during an emergency landing near taylorsville, KY. The emergency landing was precipitated by a loss of engine power at estimated 200 feet AGL after takeoff according to the statement provided by the pilot. The pilot, sole occupant, was operating the helicopter under the provisions of 14 CFR part 91. The flight originated from the privacy data omitted (pilot) residence in a rural area, visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan filed. The wreckage was at N38 degrees 0425 minutes north latitude and 085 degrees 1425 minutes west longitude. The pilot stated that at estimated 200 feet AGL, "the helicopter didn't feel right and I looked at the RPM and it appeared to be dropping. I felt the helicopter kind of shutter and heard the engine start to "pop." The pilot stated at that point he made the decision to "put it down" and performed an autorotation emergency landing. The helicopter came to rest on the skids in a northerly direction of 330 degrees. There was no post crash fire and the pilot sustained no injuries. The accident is under investigation.
