From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 08/01/2007 at approximately 1355 CST, experimental/amateur-built aircraft, Lancair iv, N7441W departed junction city, KS (3JC) in VFR conditions following a condition inspection. The pilot stated that he noticed a malfunction of the electronic manifold indication and #2 cylinder head temperature increased more than the other cylinders. Upon reaching cruise altitude of 10,500' the engine lost power and continued to windmill. The pilot landed the aircraft, landing gear extended, in a terraced field. The landing gear collapsed after a 400' roll out and continued on for another 300 feet. The pilot suffered serious injuries and the aircraft sustained substantial damage. The oil pressure line from the turbocharger controller to the wastegate actuator was found to be disconnected at the wastegate actuator and two spark plugs were found to be improperly installed. The pilot has three hours in make & model. privacy data omitted
