From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During a maintenance run-up, the mechanic apparently started the engine with the throttle in the full forward position. This position of the throttle caused the engine to start-up at full power. Upon start-up, the mechanic became startled and immediately began shutdown procedures, which was too late, thereby losing control of the aircraft and hitting a hangar. Substantial damage resulted to the left wing. The brake system was working but apparently the mechanic released the brakes as he was trying to gain control of the aircraft. The determination of classifying this situation as in incident weas made from the fact that the aircraft operation was being accomplished for maintenance purposes and without the intent to operate for air navigation. Furthermore, after interviewing the mechanic it weas determined that there was no carelessness or reckless of intent and FAR 91.13(b) was not cited in this situation.

As the FAA filed it
