From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The student pilot stated he was in left turn following his departure from the Big Lake airport and headed toward willow's airport. He stated "a strange gust of wind came up behind me and flipped me forward and down to the left." He added that "I had never experienced a wind like that before." He stated that the airplane stalled, he recovered very abruptly and with power, and then entered a secondary stall from which he was not able to recover. He subsequently impacted the trees near the north shore of rocky lake. During the impact sequence, the right wing separated from the fuselage, and the remaining portions of the airplane slid out of the trees and into the lake.
