From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot reported he departed akq at 1000 local. After approximately 10 minutes, he observed the engine coolant temperature indicator near red line. Eventually, the pilot reported the indicator went to 0. At that time, he observed a dramatic loss of power. The pilot reported he attempted to land in a hay field, however, he reported the aircraft was losing altitude rapidly. The pilot stated he chose a nearby cotton field, which was approximately waist high. The pilot reported upon initial contact with the cotton field, the aircraft traveled less than 200' before flipping over. The pilot reported he exited the aircraft and walked out of the cotton field to a nearby road and flagged down a passing car.
