What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) N24WR, a schleicher ASW-24E glider, while turning base to final, had the wing tip contact the ground causing the glider to contact the ground. This was determined to be pilot error getting too low and too slow on the approach to land. The command pilot was candid in his statement with all remarks being forthright. He is a high time glider pilot with a glider instructor rating. The PIC was reexamined in both knowledge and skill areas and found to be satisfactory.
