From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was attempting to land an ultralight aircraft on runway. Witnesses reported seeing the aircraft coming in too fast. Evidence shows that the pilot was running out of runway to safely stop the aircraft. Pilot throttled up the aircraft in an attempt to go around. Aircraft could not gain altitude quick enough to avoid a 4 foot fence. Landing gear struck the fence, causing the aircraft to spin around. Aircraft prop struck a vehicle that was parked in a lot. Prop was destroyed causing the aircraft to crash in a nose down position. Pilot was severely injured and is currently in the hospital under heavy sedation. Passenger only received minor bumps and bruises. Weight is a possible factor for part of accident, both individuals total weight was over 500 pounds. At this time no further information is available until pilot is able to talk about the accident.
