From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot privacy data omitted stated on October 8, 2007 at approximately 2:00 am local, he was returning to the Festus airport (kfes) from a personal trip. Upon making his approach to land on runway 36, he observed a deer run onto the runway and directly in his landing path. He attempted to maneuver the aircraft to avoid striking the deer but was unable to do so. The nose gear departed the aircraft at the attach point to the airframe after striking the deer. The propeller struck the runway bending the propeller blades aft resulting in the nose of the aircraft contacting the runway surface. There was damage to the underside of the aircraft and indications that the metal skin landing gear doors contacted an object. The nose wheel, gear doors, and underside of the nose of the aircraft had apparent deer fur in numerous areas.
