From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Crew assigned mission to buffalo hospital, buffalo, MN. Pilot checked weather and departed helipad. On departure, the pilot determined he had a stuck mic and aborted the mission. He planned an approach based on the current winds. Winds were reported 090/10G18. On approach for landing, the pilot was unable to reduce his groundspeed nor his descent rate. The helicopter made hard ground contact with the left skid and subsequently rolled onto the right skid. The helicopter momentum then rolled it forward, causing the chin bubble to contact the ground. The pilot applied power and aft cyclic to stop the forward momentum causing the helicopter to become airborne again and enter a hover. The pilot then hover taxied and slowly set the helicopter down near the helipad. The helicopter settled slightly nose down and leaning right.

As the FAA filed it
