From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Student pilot made a high approach to runway 18, slipped aircraft to reduce altitude, leveled off above runway, flared in an extreme nose high attitude. Instructor took command, power was added. Aircraft was seen oscillating sharply. After 3 oscillations the aircraft veered to the left of the runway, contacting the ground with the right main landing gear then left. The nose gear contacted the ground and dug in with the propeller, contacting the ground, stopping the engine and bending 1 blade. Aircraft traveled 100' before the nose wheel sheared off, contacting the lower firewall on the centering, causing damage to the lower skin and firewall.
