From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The aircraft was stored in a heated hangar. Pulled out into minus 06 degree celsius temperatures and heavy snow. The aircraft sat outside for roughly one hour with no deicing. The passengers arrived and were loaded onto the aircraft while the pilot did a brief walk around. The aircraft taxied out and took off. The aircraft was reported to be almost out of control and would not climb. The pilot turned back toward the airport to make a precautionary landing. The aircraft was reported to be flying normally on downwind back to the airport. On base to final turn the aircraft lost altitude, struck a hangar and caught fire.
