From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The aircraft was attempting to land at ksdc in a crosswind. A student and CFI were on board. During the flare, the student pulled aft too FAR on the yoke, causing the aircraft to stall and settle into the ground. The CFI attempted to recover but was too slow. The aircraft contacted the ground hard, resulting in the left main wheel assembly departing. The CFI returned to the field and made the landing. An airworthiness inspector examined the aircraft and determined that the part of the landing gear that failed was already cracked. There was minor damage to the aircraft. This incident is considered closed.
