They performed several maneuvers for about 45 minutes and then entered the pattern for touch and go's. as they crossed the number on the first approach, privacy data omitted applied a little power in the flare causing the plane to pitch up and to the right. privacy data omitted Assisted him and recovered without a touchdown. They shot about three or four more approaches trying different speeds and power settings. They set up the final landing with an extended final and the approach looked normal. Just as they were about to touch down or as they touched down, the plan ballooned. The pilot applied power and the plane pitched up hard. He then brought the nose down and pulled the power off. The nose wheel struck the runway and sheared the four bolts holding it to the front strut. Neither occupant was injured.
