From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) According to the FAA form 8020-9, dated 19 February 2008, the aircraft landing was described as "hard" by Bullhead City airport ATCT (kifp) personnel. Mohave county airport personnel discovered that the aircraft exhibited signs of experiencing a prop strike. Airport personnel provided photographs which clearly indicated damage to all four propeller blade tips. Photographs also indicate several prop strike "cuts" in the runway near the centerline markings. The pilot provided a written statement through his attorney which stated that as he was landing, he encountered a strong crosswind gust which caused the aircraft to bank to the left and the nose to drop. The pilot stated that as he rolled wings level and maneuvered the aircraft back to the runway centerline, he touched down nosewheel first, causing the propeller to strike the runway. The aircraft bounced, porpoised and pitched forward (nose low). The pilot stated that the wind gust was a factor in his ability to control the aircraft. Amended FAA form 8020-23 on 03/17/08 to include missing pilot information in block 31.
