From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) At cruise, smoke was found coming from an oven in galley #2. There were flight attendants in the galley area at the time conducting their duty free inventory. The flight attendants immediately turned off the oven, pulled the circuit breaker and informed the flight deck while two other flight attendants retrieved fire extinguishers from the nearest station. The fire horn went off about the same time. The purser approached the oven and used a halon extinguisher to saturate the area in the oven that was causing the smoke. There was no fire, only smoke. Once the smoke was contained, the purser confirmed with the fd that the fire horn could be reset. The crew continued to monitor the oven. The cause of the smoke appeared to be a result of residual liquid from the catered meals being cooked in the oven. Fas also reported that the oven timer was malfunctioning and reported this accordingly in the maintenance logbook.

As the FAA filed it
