From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Called the pilot privacy data omitted to get details of occurrence on engine shutdown. The pilot privacy data omitted had just lifted from the downtown Baltimore heliport (MD54) and climbed to 250' when he got a master caution light. He scanned the panel to find the oil pressure dropping down through the yellow caution and into the red. At that time the pilot privacy data omitted brought the #2 engine back to idle and proceeded to shutdown and secure the engine. Martin state airport was contacted and he proceeded to the airport and landed on the ramp. An inspection of the engine compartment after landing found oil throughout the compartment. The pilot privacy data omitted made calls to the helicopter operator to report the occurrence. The pilot privacy data omitted said the helicopter last flew on 03/16/08 about 7-8 pm in the evening and no issues were noted at that time. The pilot privacy data omitted performed the pre-flight inspection in the morning of 03/17/08 and said the engine oil showed over half full and was at it's proper level during the pre-flight. The helicopter was also full of fuel at that time. I asked the pilot privacy data omitted to have the mechanic call me when he finished his inspection.
