From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Left main landing gear retract chain broke at the top of retraction after take-off. This caused the right MLG & tail lg to be jammed in the up position & the left MLG to trail freely in flight. Upon landing, the left MLG collapsed and the aircraft landed on its belly. The left propeller struck the ground with both blades. The right engine was not running & the propeller was feathered upon landing. One blade tip on the right propeller did sustain slight damage as it scrapped the ground during the belly landing. Airport fire fighting units responded and agent was dispursed due to flames visible from the port side of left engine.
