From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)The PIC of 308WK (Spitfire) landed at gls on rwy 17. He was landing in sequence behind N96RW (hurricane) with about 20 seconds of spacing. The PIC of N308WK was rolling out on the left side of the runway and N96RW was on the right side of the runway. The PIC of N96RW lost control of the aircraft, ground looped and ended up on the left side of the runway. With the nose high attitude of the Spitfire on landing roll out with the tail down, the PIC of the Spitfire could not see that the hurricane in front of him had ground looped and come to almost a complete stop. N308WK struck 96RW from behind causing substantial damage to both aircraft.
