What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Pilot landed a ski-equipped DHC-3 otter in 4 feet of new snow on a glacier landing strip. During left hand taxiing turn the tail ski dropped into the deep track created by the right main ski. Tail ski was forced sideways and exceeded design limits of bungee strap holding it. Bungee broke and ski dug into snow which then forced the other end of the ski into the fuselage. Substantial damage occurred to the fuselage and the weather conditions were clear skies and calm winds.
