What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) When attempting his first water landing the pilot stated that on touch down the aircraft decelerated rapidly and the left wing sustained minor damage from striking the water. He was ejected from the aircraft and sustained a minor cut to the head. (Apparently was not wearing seatbelt or shoulder harness). Aircraft circled slowly on its own until it struck the shore. Minor damage to the right wing occured when tree was struck.
As the FAA filed it

HE WAS EJECTED FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND SUSTAINED A MINOR CUT TO THE HEAD. (APPARENTLY WAS NOT WEARING SEATBELT OR SHOULDER HARNESS). AIRCRAFT CIRCLED SLOWLY ON ITS OWN UNTIL IT STRUCK THE SHORE.
