From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot landed on an unmaintained backcountry landing strip located within the glen canyon recreational area in san juan county, southeastern Utah; the airstrip is not depicted on the faa's denver section aeronautical chart, which includes the accident site area. Due to the remote location and lack of facilities at the landing site, condition of the runway could not be accurately determined prior to landing. The pilot landed the aircraft long and subsequently veered left near the end of the landing strip and went down and embankment. The aircraft came to rest on its nose and right wingtip. Damage occurred to the right wing tip and to the horizontal stabilizer.
