From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft made a forced landing in a grassy area behind the sashabaw meadows mobile home park. The aircraft came to rest after impacting a large area of shrubery. The aircraft experienced damage to the left wing leading edge, left wing tip and a small wrinkle in the bottom wing skin just aft of the left strut. Inspection of the aircraft identified that the right wing tank had fuel over the tab and the left wing tank was empty. A witness that saw the aircraft land stated that the engine was not operating during landing and that the pilot had stated that the engine had quit. During the O5/15/08 interview, the pilot stated that he does not remember looking at fuel gauges and that he ran the aircraft out of gas in the left wing fuel tank and did not switch to the right wing fuel tank.
