From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was planning on flying for 3:30 hrs with 4:00 hrs of fuel for a day VFR. After 3:30HRS, and 5 miles from destination of axs, the engine lost power and the pilot executed an emergency landing in a field. The pilot reported a cruise consumption of 8GPH which was supported by the aircraft manufactuer. The aircraft holds 40 gallons of usable fuel. Investigation indicates that the pilot asked the FBO to "top-off" the fuel tanks but that he did not visually confirm the tanks were full. The case was closed with administrative action.
