What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Aircraft was on training flight and had completed successful approach and landing at Parker, AZ. The flight instructor had requested the student perform touch and go on runway 19. After the instructor called for student to takeoff, he reached for flaps to retract from 15 degrees down to the up position for takeoff. The student applied power and as the aircraft began gaining speed (approximately 58 knots IAS) the aircraft began to settle. The instructor states he pulled back on the yoke but the gear collapsed and settled to the ground. The instructor then pulled the power back and the aircraft slide approximately 400 feet off to the right side of the runway and came to rest with the gear retracted on the right edge of the runway. None of the occupants were injured. Damage to the aircraft included damage to the right hand wing leading edge and lower ski, because of contact with a runway light. The forward fuselage belly skins, left hand flap trailing edge, right entrance step, both main landing gear inboard gear doors, and aft nose gear doors all sustained damage as the aircraft slid along the runway surface. Subsequent inspection of the landing gear system and indicators found no operational failures.
