From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot had made several takeoffs and landings the morning of the accident at a Private field with a gravel runway. The pilot offered to give privacy data omitted, a ride. The two strapped in with the pilot in front and the passenger in the rear. They took off and climbed to approximately 30-40 feet AGL when the aircraft stalled and spun to the left impacting earth. The pilot sustained serious injuries and was evacuated by air ambulance. The passenger sustained a cracked wrist. The aircraft was substantially damaged with the controls and wing supports severed. After interviewing the pilot it was determined that he was not certificated, the aircraft was not registered and did not have an airworthiness certificate.
