From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot reported that while he was climbing through 1300 feet AGL he intentionally ran the right fuel tank dry. The engine subsequently quit. He switched tanks and attempted to restart the engine. He was unnable to restart the engine and was forced to make an emergency landing on an unapproved airstrip. As he approached the unapproved airstrip he found himself landing short of the unapproved airstrip and attempted to stretch the glide by slowing the aircraft. The aircraft stalled 10-15 feet off of the ground and the aircraft came down hard on its main gear, collapsing the left landing gear. The aircraft rolled over on its back and came to rest.
