From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Nose gear collapsed due to hard landing, runway 24, at Igor Sikorsky memorial airport (bdr). The student pilot stated feeling slight gusts of wind while landing. While over the numbers at approximately 80 knots IAS he felt a slight gust twist the plane slightly but not unsettling, he pulled the throttle slowly to idle and began to flare at approximately 69 knots IAS. He then floated straight and level for approximately 2 seconds before feeling another slight gust. While trimming back and adding back pressure and floating another 2 seconds, student pilot then landed hard, causing the nose gear to collapse. He stated that after exiting the plane the wind was gusting moderately in the runway direction. The bdr tower reported the wind direction was 210 degrees at 13 knots gusing to 23 knots.

As the FAA filed it
