From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)The pilot was departing runway 18 at Hendricks county airport (2R2), danville, IN, when he encountered a gust of wind at approximately 200 feet AGL. The aircraft was severely displaced to the left and the pilot could not overcome the displacement with aileron and rudder. The aircraft was not gaining altitude and the pilot decided to continue turning to the left and circle back to the runway he departed. As he turned back for the runway, the main gear touched the roof of a hangar and a hard landing was made in the grass, east of the taxiway. As a result of the hard landing, the main gear was separated from the aircraft, resulting in a final ground loop where the aircraft ultimately came to rest.
