From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While in cruise flight at approximately 1,200 feet AGL, the engine failed. The pilot executed a forced landing in a corn field 7 miles southwest of the Crivitz, Wisconsin airport (3D1) causing minor damage to the landing gear and propeller. The engine failed due to a plug extracting itself out and lodging between the rocker arm and valve cover of the nr 2 cylinder. This impeded the operation of the push rod and valve. The pilot is the holder of a student pilot certificate and operated the flight with a passenger onboard.
