From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot in command of N561JS, a CE-560 aircraft, towed his aircraft from a hangar in preparation for flight but neglected to remove the tow bar which was attached to the front nose wheel assembly. The pilot then entered his aircraft and began to taxi to the active runway. The pilot was not aware of the tow bar affixed to the front wheel as he taxied to the active runway nor did the Springfield ATC controller notice the device. Subsequently, the pilot conducted a takeoff maneuver from runway 13 at the Springfield airport with the tow bar still attached to the aircrafts nose wheel. The Springfield ATC controller noticed the device as the aircraft climbed from the runway and notified the pilot that it appeared something was attached to the nose wheel. The pilot elected not to retract the landing gear and returned to the runway for a landing. The aircraft landed without further incident and the pilot taxied his aircraft back to the hangar for inspection. The pilot noted the anomaly, removed the tow bar, and inspected the aircraft. No damage was sustained as a result of this incident and this report is being filed to close privacy data omitted.

As the FAA filed it

NO DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED AS A RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT AND THIS REPORT IS BEING FILED TO CLOSE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.
