From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) At cruise the PIC noticed that the engine monitor indicated that the EGT (exhaust gas temperature) and CHT (cylinder head temperature) for the nr 3 cylinder on the nr 2 engine was very low. The engine did not appear to be running rough and the oil temperature and oil pressure were normal. He decided to return to fxe and informed ATC of his intentions without declaring and emergency. The aircraft was taken to banyan repair station where an inspection revealed that the loss of power was due to a broken valve which damaged the piston and nr 3 cylinder. The nr 3 cylinder assembly which included the valve and piston was replaced. The repair station submitted an m&d report for the damaged valve.

THE NR 3 CYLINDER ASSEMBLY WHICH INCLUDED THE VALVE AND PISTON WAS REPLACED. THE REPAIR STATION SUBMITTED AN M&D REPORT FOR THE DAMAGED VALVE.
