From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On February 03, 2009, while practicing takeoff and landings at Stockton Metropolitan Airport (sck), pilot in command yoichi sakurada allowed student pilot yoichi manabe to manipulate the controls for an attempted landing. During the landing attempt, PIC sakurada failed to insure the landing gear was in the down and locked landing position. Realizing the landing gear was not in the proper position, PIC sakurada initiated a go-around. During the go-around maneuver, the left propeller and small portion of the left flap contacted the runway. PIC sakurada took control of the aircraft, entered the traffic pattern, configured the aircraft for landing and landed at sck without further incident. Post flight inspection revealed damage to the left propeller and left flap, iasco, the facility from which the aircraft was rented received a telephone call from PIC sakurada following the event. The aircraft was immediately grounded and remained at sck until repairs could be made and the aircraft returned to service. No injuries.
