From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A non-certificated unqualified owner boarded a recently purchased experimental gyrocopter to perform a ground run on the aircraft that he had no experience on. Once the engine started and he boarded the aircraft it started moving forward then made a sharp right turn and entered the hanger impacting the hanger door from the inside coming to a stop. The individual stepped out of the aircraft and turned directly into the running pusher propeller severing his left shoulder resulting in his death. There were no witnesses to this event.
